Eblouissante is the three-year old half-sister to Zenyatta. She’s by Bernardini and out of Vertigineux. As of now, she has yet to race; but she did put in 5 furlong work in 1:02.80 earlier today.
I’ve yet to form a real opinion on this filly… She might do well and she might flop; who knows. But one thing I do know is that I certainly do not like all the pressure that is being placed on a half-sister. This is a completely different horse than Zenyatta. t just irks me when people go around saying that Eblouissante has “big shoes to fill.” Let the horse be herself. High expectations lead to disappointment. I for one would rather not have any expectations and let a horse completely surprise me… Versus have such staggering goals for an untried filly. Let’s see what she can do first before people start comparing her to her older sister.
